Graduate membership is for engineers who have satisfied the Institution’s academic requirements and are working towards a professional grade.
Who can apply
- You are at least 21 years old.
- You hold an accredited degree in Civil and/or Structural Engineering (for example B.Sc., B.Eng., B.Tech. or M.Eng.), or an equivalent qualification.
- No work experience is required.
If your degree is not accredited by the Institution, send the application form with a certified copy of your certificate and full details of your course. The Institution’s Qualification Panel assesses it and will tell you whether further study or examinations (such as the NSE and COREN examinations) are needed. Student Members can transfer to Graduate membership once they hold an accredited degree.
What membership gives you
- The letters GNIStructE after your name.
- Access to the Institution’s library, technical meetings, seminars, conferences and state branches.
- Guidance on Initial Professional Development (IPD) towards Associate or Corporate membership.
Next steps
Once your training and experience meet the IPD requirements, apply for the Professional Review interview. Success there lets you sit the Corporate Membership (Part 3) examination or the Associate-Membership examination.
