EDDY ATUMONYOGO BSc, MSc, FNIStructE
President
Nigerian Institution of Structural Engineers.
Engr. Eddy Atumonyogo graduated from the University of Lagos where he obtained a Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering and a Master’s degree in Construction Management. He trained with the Nigerian office of Ove Arup & Partners and worked with Civil Sphere Konsult Ltd, Consulting Engineers. He is currently the Managing Partner of Mudcrete Kompany, Consulting Engineers and Civ-Datum Limited, Construction Managers. He has served the Institution in various capacities as member of Executive Council, Co-opted Council member, Vice President, Deputy President, and elected President at the Institution’s Annual General Meeting in October 2017.
A thorough bred professional, Engr. Atumonyogo believes Structural Engineers should play leading roles in the project procurement process, and must arm themselves with the necessary skills to make direct contact with Clients and policy makers. He has been involved in the design of a lot of industrial projects for both local and multinational companies, in addition to design of medium rise, residential and ecclisiatical buildings. His works can be found in most cities in Nigeria.
On being elected, he has promised to take the Institution to higher levels through a three point agenda, namely:
STRENGTHEN THE BRANCHES.
Revive existing branches, establish new ones and support them with technical resources for their monthly Technical sessions.
Membership examinations, interviews and examination tutorials will now hold in any branch or group of contiguous branches that can muster enough candidates.
ADVOCACY.
Continue to monitor closely developments in the polity, as regards the place of the Institution in the scheme of things. An Advocacy Committee will be set up to make sure our voices are heard and engage the general public on any issues relating to our profession.
TRAINING, TECHNOLOGY AND INNOVATION.
Equip our members with relevant knowledge, in order to sustain their competence and maintain the integrity of our Institution. Create awareness of innovations and emerging technologies in our profession, so that our members will remain relevant.
