Engr. Atumonyogo graduated from the University of Lagos where he obtained a Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering and a Master’s degree in Construction Management. He trained with the Nigerian office of Ove Arup & Partners and worked with Civil Sphere Konsult Ltd, Consulting Engineers. He is currently the Managing Partner of Mudcrete Kompany, Consulting Engineers and Civ-Datum Limited, Construction Managers. He has served the Institution in various capacities as member of Executive Council, Co-opted Council member, Vice President, Deputy President, and elected President at the Institution’s Annual General Meeting in October 2017.
A thorough bred professional, Engr. Atumonyogo believes Structural Engineers should play leading roles in the project procurement process, and must arm themselves with the necessary skills to make direct contact with Clients and policy makers. He has been involved in the design of a lot of industrial projects for both local and multinational companies, in addition to design of medium rise, residential and ecclisiatical buildings. His works can be found in most cities in Nigeria.
On being elected, he has promised to take the Institution to higher levels through a three point agenda, namely:
STRENGTHEN THE BRANCHES.
Revive existing branches, establish new ones and support them with technical resources for their monthly Technical sessions.
Membership examinations, interviews and examination tutorials will now hold in any branch or group of contiguous branches that can muster enough candidates.
Continue to monitor closely developments in the polity, as regards the place of the Institution in the scheme of things. An Advocacy Committee will be set up to make sure our voices are heard and engage the general public on any issues relating to our profession.
TRAINING, TECHNOLOGY AND INNOVATION.
Equip our members with relevant knowledge, in order to sustain their competence and maintain the integrity of our Institution. Create awareness of innovations and emerging technologies in our profession, so that our members will remain relevant.
The Nigerian Institution of Structural Engineers 1st Professional Part III Examination Tutorial will hold on Thursday 15th – Friday 16th March, 2018 at the Secretariat 5, Akinhanmi Street, Surulere, Lagos. Time: 9:00a.m – 5:00p.m daily.

SUBJECT: ELECTION GUIDELINES FOR 2017/2018 EXCO OF NIStructE
We wish to inform all members that there will be an election into the EXCO of the Institution at the 2017 Annual General Meeting scheduled to hold on Wednesday, 25th October, 2017 at 2:00 p.m. at the Sheraton Hotel & Towers, Ikeja.
All Financial Members (Fellows and Corporate) who are interested in standing for elective post should please complete the attached nomination form and return same to the Secretariat, on or before Friday, 6th October, 2017 or through email to email@example.com.
Ballot papers will be issued to members at the floor of the AGM for voting and result declared immediately after the election.

EXTRACTS FROM THE INSTITUTION’S ARTICLES AND MEMO ON ELECTION OF OFFICERS AND TENURE– CLAUSES 17 & 18
CLAUSE 17 – ELECTION OF OFFICERS
17.1 The Deputy President shall automatically become the President at the expiration of the term of the incumbent president.
17.2 The Deputy President shall be elected by secret ballot at the Annual General Meeting (Annual General Meeting) from among the serving and past Vice Presidents at the expiration of the term of the incumbent Deputy President.
17.3 The election of the other officers shall be by secret ballot at the Annual General Meeting from among corporate members who are Nigerians and whose subscriptions and dues are not in arrears.
17.4 Candidates who are eligible for election as Vice Presidents must have served on the Executive Council for at least two years.
17.5 Any member wishing to nominate a member or members for election to the Executive Council shall notify the General Secretary on the prescribed form duly signed by the nominees at least fourteen clear days from the date fixed for the

17.6 Absent corporate members shall be eligible to stand for election provided that they give in writing an indication of their willingness to serve if elected.
CLAUSE 18 – TENURE
18.1 The President shall hold office for two (2) years and shall be succeeded by the Deputy President.
18.2 In the event of President ceasing to hold office before the expiration of his term, the Deputy President shall complete the year and serve his own term as President.
18.3 All members of Council except the President and Deputy President shall have tenure of one year but shall be eligible for re-election provided that no member may serve as Vice President for more than three consecutive terms.

INVITATION TO PARTICIPATE IN THE 30TH CONFERENCE OF THE NIGERIAN INSTITUTION OF STRUCTURAL ENGINEERS: CALL FOR PAPERS
The 2017 Annual Conference of the Nigerian Institution of Structural Engineers will hold on Tuesday, 24th & Wednesday, 25th October, 2017 at the Sheraton Hotel & Towers, Ikeja at 9:00a.m.
The Theme of the Conference is “ENGINEERING INFRASTRUCTURE: DESIGN, CONSTRUCTION AND THE NIGERIAN ECONOMY’’
The Conference will take the form of Plenary and Technical Sessions to deliberate on the theme and the following sub-themes respectively.
The theme of this year’s Conference was carefully coined out from contemporary issues in Nigeria: Engineering Infrastructure, the Structural Engineering Practice and the Economic situation of the Country. The Conference is an annual networking event for Structural Engineers in Nigeria and it provides a forum for Engineers, Professionals in the built industry, Government officials, Local administrative authorities, Funding agencies, Contractors, Suppliers of construction equipment and materials, Investors and other Stakeholders in the built-environment from the public and private sectors to share ideas on best practices. It is also a forum for them to learn from one another, the effective ways of dealing with the present diverse challenges occasioned by the economic situation of the country and how engineering infrastructure could be used to salvage the economy.
During the 2017 conference, delegates will have the opportunity to deliberate on issues pertaining to the state of Nigeria’s Infrastructure; Economy issues on Structural Engineering Practice and many more.
All materials submitted for presentation shall be Peer – reviewed to ensure that the high standards that have been set by the Institution in the past are maintained and even surpassed.
